Summer Learning Journey: Should Bullfighting be banned in Spain?

Should Bullfighting be banned in Spain?
Bullfighting Should be banned. I think its a very brutal sport and heres why.

Bullfighting should get banned because at the end of every bullfight the bull always gets killed, and about 250,000 bulls get killed on average every year in bullfights.

Another reason why Bullfighting should be banned is because its just cruel to kill animals for your entertainment, and only 31% of Spaniards actually enjoy watching it.

The Deep End

The Deep End

Once I put my togs on, I was ready. I jumped in, splash. It was cold, but gradually got warmer as my body adjusted to the temperature. I played with my friends and splashed water in their faces, then decided to go deeper. Nothing wrong with that right? As I went deeper, my feet started lifting off from the floor, and I was floating. I found this cool. I went deeper, and found I was unable to get back to my friends; I couldn't swim. I gasped for air as my head was dunking, over and under. I started crying, thinking that this was going to be the end. I was waving my arms around and saw someone backing towards me. I grabbed onto their shoulders and held on tight.

Adding Decimals

To start off the term, I have made a DLO to help you and others add Decimal, fast and easily.
If you follow the steps properly, you'll probably become an ultra math genius. Next time, I should be more creative and add a bit more examples so that it would be easier to follow and understand.

Ngatu

Ngatu
This information report is on Ngatu. This information report will be covering how to make a Ngatu and its significance.

I’m going to start off with a question… What is a Ngatu? Ngatu is the Tongan name given to the Tapa cloth. A Ngatu is a type of cloth/sheet made from the bark of a tutu (mulberry) tree.

Ngatu making is the job for the woman of Tonga. How does one make a Ngatu you ask? It takes a large group of people to do so. In Tonga, they use tutu trees (or mulberry trees) to make the Ngatu. First of all, they peel the bark from the tree and soak it in water for a while, then they take it out and beat it was a stick called ike on another larger stick called tutua. The soaked and beaten bark of the tutu tree is called Feta’aki. They combine 2 feta’aki together and start beating it again. Every woman in the group has a certain length of Feta’aki to make before their next gathering. Once everyone has made their Feta’aki, they bring it to the gathering and combine it together to make one Ngatu cloth.

Ngatu is one of Tonga’s most important treasures, it is an age old tradition and has been an iconic symbol for the Pacific culture. It has been treasured from generation to generation. Ngatu was similar to money back before money was introduced. It is used for many ceremonies such as the birth of a newborn to swaddle them, it lines the bed of a newly wed couple on their first night together, and it is wrapped around a loved one in death. It is also used for birthdays.

This information report has covered what a Ngatu is, how it is made and what its significance is. I hope you’ve learned how important the Ngatu is to the Tongan culture.

Should Phones be banned during class?

W.A.L.T: Write a Persuasive Text

Should Phones be banned during class?

I think it is a bad idea to let students have access to their phones during class. This piece of writing will be covering why students shouldn’t have phones during class.

Phones are a major distraction from work. During class, if someone had a phone, they would have access to games and videos, which will distract them from their learning and they won’t know much about the work they are doing when it is given to them.

Phones can be used for cheating. If doing a test, they could easily be used to search for the answers and get every question correct, or have another student text them the answers which is unfair for the students who studied, listened in class and aren’t cheating.

Unless you have health problems, I don’t think you need a phone to call if there is an emergency. If there is an emergency during school then go to the office or staff room to ask a school staff member to call your parent/guardian. If it is during class ask the teacher to call.

Overall, I don’t think cell phones should be allowed during class time, because they are distracting and can be used for cheating.

What I enjoyed while doing this was writing it and coming up with points to why students shoudn't have access to their phones during class. What I found difficult was coming up with points to why phones should be banned in class. I need to come up with more convincing points and add more on to the points I currently have.

The Last Adventure of James Tibbywinkle

For the Past Week in Writing, and the last week of the Term, we are doing a narrative on a key. We got to choose 1 out of many keys, and write a story about what it opens. I found it difficult finding ideas, like how to make the rest of the Main Characters life miserable. I will try to improve on my ideas next time. This is a really engaging activity, that you should try yourself.

The Last Adventure of James Tibbywinkle

Back in the day I used to be one of the world’s most famous archaeologist adventurers, James Tibbywinkle, a charismatic, cheerful and brave soul, with my partner Diane Jones. That was just the persona I went by in public though. No one else knew this, but I was a highly trained mercenary getting paid millions by the government to find priceless artifacts hidden all over the world, until one day I went on an adventure that would end my career.

It was the year 2076. The president, John Johnny Johnson, had sent a group of 17 archaeologists to explore a newly discovered cave. One found a key laying on a pedestal and called the rest of the group over. The one who found the key said “I picked up the key from the pedestal, then the floor started falling beneath our feet, I dashed for the entrance and barely got out alive. I was on the surface waiting for everyone else to come out, but… no one else escaped.” Another group of archaeologists studied the key and found that there was a large piece of paper hidden inside, it seemed to be a map. The president sent his best, the only person fit for the job, me, to follow the map and investigate what the key unlocks.

I was taken on a helicopter with my partner to Egypt. From there we followed the map to the middle of a desert, and found a door in the sand. We opened the door, then there were some stairs leading deeper, we went down and found another, larger door with a large lock, where the key would fit perfectly. I put the key in and twisted, the door opened. We stepped in, but when we went further and the door slammed behind us, we ran back but the door was sealed off by the wall. “Guess we’re trapped here for all eternity” Diane said “No, there has to be a way out, we just have to explore a bit more.” I replied.

As we explored, there were twists and turns, dead ends and we ended up in the same place over and over again, it was an endless maze. As we made our way through the large maze, I felt the presence of something else nearby. Slap… slap… slap… It sounded like bare feet walking on the foul red ‘muddy’ floor “What is that sound?”, slap… slap… slap… slap, slap, slap, slap slap slap slap slap slap slap. I looked back “MIN  YUJRIW EALAA DUKHUL NAESHIATY?!” A giant crocodile man hybrid came running towards us, “RUN!” “Wha-?!” I threw Diane on my shoulder and dashed forward.I doubted that we’d lose it by just running away so I took out my .32 caliber pistol and put a few rounds in its face BAM BAM BAM, but that just slowed it down, so I took 2 rights a left and a right, another left, 2 rights and a left. “It seems like we lost it.” I said, “So it seems, hey looks like someone else has been here before us!” Diane replied. I looked down and saw a skeleton. “He’s holding something…” I said “Did you just assume their gender?” I tugged on their bony hands to get the piece of paper they were holding out, I ended up pulling their arm off “Good enough, oh and sorry.” The piece of paper was yet another map. “Looks like this map shows the directions to the real exit!”

As we followed the map to the exit, the ‘mud’ got thicker and was up to my knees, harder to move in, as if it were coagulated, and it seemed to be a darker red, then I realised that it wasn’t mud at all. “Hey Diane…” “What?” “I just noticed that we’re walking in a pool of coagulated blood!” She looked down and gagged, but managed not to puke on me. We went faster, and finally, FINALLY, we made it to the exit. She ran in front of me “Hurry up slowpoke!” I caught up with her, we called for the helicopter and waited for an hour, I decided to take a swim. I sas trudging in the blood looking for some kind of treasure, when the monster came back.

It rose behind me from the pool of blood, and pounced on me, I took out my gun and shot it in the eye ,pew, It roared, and said “HAL TAETAQID ‘ANAK YMKN ‘AN TAQTALANAY?!” and started tugging on my leg, then tore it off. I screamed in pain “FUDGE MUFFIN!” “James!” I shot it in the snout, pew, it roared and tore my other leg off. “OOF! Diane! GO GET SOME HELP!” As soon as I said that the Helicopter came in. I could hear the sound of automatic fire, poompoompoompoompoom, “Rargh!” The Demongator said “Hadha lays akhar shay' satarah miniy…” then it backed away into the darkness of the Labyrinth. I ripped off both my sleeves to stop my stumps from bleeding.

After that they took me to a hospital, where they fixed my wounds, but didn’t give me any legs. Now, 2 decades late, I’m stuck in a resting home with Diane as my only company.

Ballad

For the past couple of weeks we have been working on ballads. And for the past 2 weeks we have been writing our own ballads.
This is my ballad.
Enjoy.

In a world that was empty, where nothing else will exist,
I was born and for eons I wished,
That I would face the sweet release of death,
I prayed “Dear God, make me take my last breath.”

One day I could sense that someone else was near,
The soul of something that used to live here,
I really needed a friend so badly,
So I made it a vessel out of junk and metal gladly.

I motioned it towards the doll of junk,
I clapped for it to come over and it walked as if it were drunk,
As time went by it got used to moving around,
but I got weaker and weaker and I fell to the ground.

My stomach was empty and my lips were dry,
the pain got worse and I started to cry,
an ocean of tears ran down my cheek,
the pain grew stronger I had reached my peak.

I said goodbye,
I don’t know why,
My eyes closed and never opened again,

And that day I left my only friend.

Angles!

This Slideshow explains the different types of angles and even has a fun little quiz at the end!
Enjoy!

My School Holiday

The School Holiday
This piece of writing tells the events that occured during my school holiday.
*spoilers ahead*
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays my parents let me stay up until 11:00 pm because I had to wake up early for the paper run the next day, but on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays my parents let me stay up until 1:00 am. On most days I kept to myself while having fun on the computer all day, but on some days my friends would come over and we’d go out on our bikes and have fun on the BMX track at Kyle Park or we just hang out at Wycola Park. One day during the holiday, my friends came over and we went to Kyle park to play on the BMX track. I went up to the huge hill, and I was hesitant at first, but I worked up the nerve to do it. I biked down the hill fast and I could hear the wind rushing by my ears. I was rolling down so fast that when I got down to the bottom I rolled up the other slope and the bike bounced. When it landed I almost fell off the bike, but I survived. I completed the course. When I got back to the top of the hill I asked Lance “Have you done it before?” he responded with “Yeah, about five times.” I did it again to try and one up him, but I didn’t want to do it a third time because I was too ‘tired’.

On Sunday the twenty second of April, I went to my little cousins fifth birthday party. Everyone had to go dressed as a prince or a princess. I obviously didn’t dress up, not because I didn’t want to, but because my parents never bought me a princess outfit. All I really did there was play with a flat soccer ball, eat ice cream, cake, lasagna, barbeque and savories and watch movies. Everyone got goodie bags with a bunch of lollies, and then we went home.

It was Saturday the twenty eighth, the second to last day of the school holidays. Me and my friends Lance, Rheanna, Nathan, Mathan and Annabelle planned to go to the movies that day to watch Avengers: Infinity War, My brother wanted to tag along too. In the morning, I was just hanging out on my computer, I didn’t do much that day until the afternoon. It was 4:00 pm and I was still on the computer. I decided to download Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War, because I hadn’t watched them yet and I wanted to catch up on all the avengers movies before I watched Avengers: Infinity War. I didn’t have enough time to even finish one of the movies because they took ages to download. I ended up going to the movies without watching Age of Ultron and Civil War. When we went in the cinemas, we watched some ads and then the movie started. Two hours later I was partly sad, and mostly mad. The whole movie was absolutely amazing. But the ending made me confused and mad, and kinda sad. Me and my brother left the cinema and my dad picked us up.

When we got home I went on my computer and went on discord to chat with my friend, they told me I missed out on a post credit scene, I didn’t ask them what happened, I just searched it up on the internet. I really enjoyed the school holidays and I wish they lasted longer. I loved going to my little cousins birthday and eating the delicious food there. I also loved the movie and how confusing and heartbreaking the ending was.

Onomatopoeia Poem

Onomatopoeia
Fireworks Poem
Sizzle, Sizzle, Sizzle,
The fireworks tail was lit on fire.
Sizzle, Whoosh, Zoom!
The firework flies high, then higher.
Whoosh, Zoom, Pop,
The fireworks voice came out with a boom.
Zoom, Pop, BOOM!
The fireworks gone, it has met its doom.

W.A.L.T use Onomatopoeia
Reflection:
What I found hard was coming up with what to write down.
What I found easy were the words to use.
I should make this more interesting.
